
Mendis Wickramasinghe
Mr L. J. Mendis Wickramasinghe, brings in a substantial amount of domain knowledge about wildlife to his photography, making him one of the best in the field.
His recently concluded wildlife photography exhibition and the accompanying book “Repertoire” are considered to be two of the best works seen in their classes by many.
To date he has discovered 21 novel species, while many others await taxonomic descriptions. He has contributed his expertise towards many national projects and to several international bodies including the IUCN/SSC.
Currently he is an advisor of Fauna to the committee to the central highland national world heritage site, a consulting herpetologist to the department of Zoological Gardens, a visiting lecturer to many universities and a sought after wildlife photography lecturer and a competition judge.
He is the founder & the President of Herpetological Foundation of Sri Lanka and the author of “Recognising deadly venomous snakes from harmless snakes in Sri Lanka” while being the co-author of four other books on herpetology.
Mr Wickramasinghe in addition to being a Lecturer, is the Environmental Awareness Adviser to the Institute of Multimedia Education.
